8D.wiki is run by founder Alvin Jin — IATF 16949 expert, certified PE coach, DRBFM expert. He reviews, edits and formats every page.
8D.wiki is an independent knowledge base and report tool for the 8D (Eight Disciplines) problem-solving method. It is written for quality engineers, supplier-quality engineers (SQE) and manufacturing engineers who have to answer a customer complaint or survive an IATF 16949 audit — not for people collecting definitions.
Operator. 8D.wiki is an independent publication. The site, its wiki and its report tool are run by the founder directly; there is no agency, content farm or outsourced editorial team behind it.
Founder — Alvin Jin. Alvin spent 20 years inside leading global Tier-1 automotive component suppliers, including as Development Manager of a powertrain division, building and deploying development (R&D) management systems and quality management systems: APQP project flows, design and process FMEA, DRBFM reviews for engineering changes, PPAP submissions, control plans, measurement-system analysis, and the corrective-action / 8D process used to answer OEM complaints and supplier claims.
Credentials
His role on the site is editorial rather than authorial: he does not write the articles — he sets the technical bar, reviews and edits every page before publication, and does the formatting. That background shapes what this site covers. Every methodology page here describes the version of the method that has to hold up when a customer auditor asks for the evidence behind D4, or when a supplier's 8D has to be challenged because it stops at "operator error". Where the textbook and the shop floor disagree, the site documents the shop floor and says why. The DRBFM background is why this site treats "the design changed and nobody re-reviewed how it could fail" as a first-class failure mode rather than a side note.
Most 8D reports fail for the same three reasons: the problem description has no data, the root cause never reaches the management system, and the corrective action is never verified. Answering that is a content problem before it is a software problem. So the wiki is the core of the site — 87 in-depth articles across five languages, with real failure cases, worked 5-Why chains, FMEA/PPAP integration, and free templates.
The AI report workspace sits on top of that corpus to remove the formatting work, not to replace the engineering judgement.
The wiki, the glossary and the free 8D Excel template are free and require no account. The AI report workspace is a paid subscription. Display advertising is served by Google AdSense.
Advertisers have no influence on content: no sponsored articles, no paid placements inside the wiki, no advertiser review of any page, and no ads inside a generated 8D report body.
8D.wiki is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by AIAG, IATF, any vehicle manufacturer or any certification body. IATF 16949, AIAG, VDA, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and related names are the property of their respective owners and are used here only to describe the standards the site writes about.
